October 2026·Art·64 works

After Richter's squeegee. Sixty-four works, kept on chain as the instructions that paint them.

Rakel

Rakel is paint dragged, torn and layered across a surface, after Gerhard Richter’s squeegee paintings. It is the first artwork made for the KVM.

Each work is a KVM program, stored on Ethereum with one seed that I chose. I wrote it in p5c, so its source reads like a p5.js sketch. You can open it in the p5c sandbox, change the seed, and compile it again.

The contract makes the metadata on chain. It gives marketplaces a small HTML player that runs the program in the viewer’s browser, with the KVM compiled to WebAssembly. The contract can also draw each work as a PNG when you ask for it, so anyone can check the picture against the chain. A tokenURI call uses about 45M gas, so it needs a node that allows a large eth_call.

Each work has four traits: Species (Monolith, Veil, Crossfire, Churn), Register (one of eleven palettes), Light (Night or Daylight) and Passes.

Holders of Kintsugi, City Lights and The Universe Machine can buy a work at ownable.art.
