A 56,000-instance flow field by Joshua Davis, translated by hand to Solidity. The first piece with on-chain metadata.

The Universe Machine

The Universe Machine is by Joshua Davis (praystation). It is a flow field of approximately 56,000 instances, with bit-exact cubic-bezier arc-length sampling.

I translated it to Solidity on the Kohi engine. The port uses the same XorShift stream and bezier math, and makes the same output.

Here the metadata moved on-chain. The tokenURI returns the metadata as a data: URI. But the image field points off-chain. At first it pointed to the kohi.art API. Now it points to IPFS, so the image does not need Kohi’s server.

The collection of Joshua Davis deploys as UniverseMachine, symbol TUM. The contract composes its metadata on-chain.
